It has flying, and whenever this creature deals combat damage that player mills a card. Merfolk Windrobber is a very decent one drop for this deck. Hate Tribal Strategies (get off my blog if this is you!).Having Merfolk that is relevant to the game plan.Playing with a Tribe that gives you an alternative win condition.Oh and did I mention there are a lot of Merfolk Rogues out there? Yes, you better believe that I am adding members of my personal favourite tribe to this deck. Which means that we can swing in without often having to worry whether our creatures will die in combat or not. Rogues is actually a decent tribe, no really! When I take a look at Tribal decks, I always ask myself: What is this tribe best at doing? And looking at the Rogue Tribe, the best thing this tribe is best at is being evasive! And that is a great strength! A lot of Rouges are either unblockable, can’t be blocked or have Flying. But now with Anowon and with the release of Zendikar Rising, and the more I look into it. They had no real “Rogue Matters” cards and no lords. Now before we go further, I will be honest before this version of Anowon was printed, I didn’t really consider Rogues a tribe. This is what makes him such an interesting Commander to build around. Anowon is exciting! He is a lord, gives you an alternative win condition through mill and he can draw you cards. AND if the player mills at least one creature card this way, you draw a card. And whenever one or more of your Rogues deal combat damage to a player, that player mills a card for each 1 damage dealt to them. Our Commander is Anowon, the Ruin Thief and he is very exciting to build around! He himself is a lord giving other Rogues you control get +1/+1.
